2025 Tata Steel IJmuiden Site Visit

Tour of Tata Steel Ijmuiden Works in Amsterdam | Monday 15 September 2025

For 2025, we have already agreed an exclusive visit to Tata Steel Ijmuiden Works in Amsterdam.

Availability for the tour is limited, therefore once ticket sales are open, these will be sold on a first come, first served basis.

About Tata Steel

Tata Steel is one of Europe’s leading steel producers, with steelmaking in the Netherlands and the UK, and manufacturing plants across Europe. The company makes high-quality strip steel products for demanding markets such as construction, automotive, packaging and engineering.

From 2030, Tata Steel will emit five million tonnes less CO2 every year. To do so, they will switch from coal to natural gas and later to hydrogen (as soon as it is sufficiently available). This will reduce their CO2 emissions by 40% and make a serious contribution to achieving the Dutch climate goals. With this reduction, they offset the CO2 footprint of 385,000 Dutch people a year.

How will Tata Steel make green steel?

They currently make steel with blast furnace technology, for which they use coal. Burning coal releases much CO2. We are therefore switching from coal to more sustainable energy sources, thereby reducing their CO2 emissions enormously.

Saying goodbye to coal after using it for over 100 years is the biggest ever change for the company. Join the tour to see how much progress is being made!

Site tour tickets are open!
